Lamiya Hoque, Miss Bangladesh Asia Pacific 2016
Lamiya Hoque is an Environmental Science student from California who represented Bangladesh at Miss Asia Pacific International for the first time. Miss Asia Pacific International is the largest and oldest pageant in Asia and the Miss Bangladesh US Organization has the opportunity to send the Bangladesh representative there each year.
Lamiya is extremely passionate about the environment. Working with several nonprofits, Lamiya is devoting her time and dedication to combat climate change. Studying Environmental Science and Policy, while minoring in Economics and Political Science at California State University of Long Beach, Lamiya wants to work for the government, striving to serve on city council some day. She has plans to attend law school and fight the battle for climate change. In her free time, she loves to dance, spend time with family, and be outdoors. Family is everything to her, without her family she would not be half the person she is today. Her family has supported her every single step of the dance and has played a crucial role in her life. Her devotion to dance has allowed her to cope with the stress of school, work, and life. Lamiya can dance from Bollywood to Folk Bengali dancing. From a young age, dance has been a huge part of her life. Dancing has allowed her to share a piece of her soul with the world. Her love for the outdoors has lead her to her passion for the environment. From a young age, Lamiya loves to be outdoors. The personal connection she has with nature has inspired her to protect and preserve our beloved Mother Earth. She believes that her connection with nature should be thought of as a human right. Lamiya's love for nature has inspired her to work with members in congress to enact legislation to combat climate change.
